WHAT TO SEE AND DO IN PAPHOS
Roman Mosaics
This is a vast site on the edge of Paphos with the entry near the Harbour in Kato Paphos. If you think you've seen mosaics think again, there are several excavated houses with the most amazing mosaics in, many are protected from the sun (which provides welcome shade for visitors as well) and show scenes from mythology and ordinary life, as well as a huge variety of unusual patterns. There are several sets of mosaics in the open air and some are still being uncovered. As well as these houses with the mosaics there are also other remains such as old walls, theatres, a ruined fort etc.
Tombs of the Kings
These are about a 5 minute drive from the middle of Kato Paphos on the bus route to Coral Bay. It is a vast Necropolis with rock cut tombs in a variety of styles. The tombs have been constructed to resemble houses so the whole area is a little bit like a city carved into the rock. Excavations are continuing and more tombs are being opened up. Eight tombs are highlighted in the guide book and site map. |

Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark
It is set within 35,000 sqm of natural landscaped grounds and situated at the far eastern end of the Kato Paphos coastal road and offers a wide and varied selection of rides, attractions and facilities, which include spacious changing rooms and secure locker rooms. In addition the park is also equipped with handicap facilities. With the largest number of attractions in Cyprus everyday from May to October .We offer the biggest family rafting ride in the world as well as several other unique rides. With virtually guaranteed sunshine for every one of its opening days, it's no wonder that Paphos Aphrodite Water Park attracts over 100,000 visitors each year.
Young or old, swimmer or not, there's something there for everyone! Why not take a break and soak up the warm Paphos sun and enjoy the leisure pool where you can chill out and relax.
A Lazy River trip is a slow, winding river around the park, taking approx 15 mins to go round in a yellow ring. There are several features on the route, including darkended tunnels, waterfalls, water sprays etc. The Kamikaze is a steep and undulating ride with 5 shoots alongside each other. The Freefall ride is what it says; a near vertical drop which lifts you off the surface of the shoot for a second or too, before firing along the long horizontal section at the bottom. Adrenalin rush time! Other are The Black Hole, a very quick slide all in the dark where your sense of direction is lost totally. Also, there is another another adult/child slide where 3-4 persons sit in a high backed ring. Good fun for kids again. A pool with wave machine every hour is also good. In total, about 8-10 different rides plus the childrens section make it an extremely fun day out.
There are loads of sun beds and umbrellas in all sorts of areas around the park and lots of lifeguards and people to help. Couples should have little concerns about leaving a bag with some basics ie. camera, sun cream etc as it would seem quite safe and secure.
The main highlight is the ability for this park to appeal to a wide audience and children will love it. You have to climb steps to get to the highest level rides although very good exercise. The stone floor can become very hot on bare feet and shade is very welcome. Very minor points though and certainly not something to put you off. Parking is very good at the park and free. Lots of toilet facilities |

Paphos Scuba Diving In Paphos and Coral Bay
There are several operators offering Scuba Diving in Paphos and Coral Bay. CyDive has locations in both Central Paphos and attached to the Corallia Beach Apartments in Coral Bay. They have a schedule of planned trips and can offer additional dives if you ask. It is not unusual with scuba diving for dive sites to be changed to suit the weather/diving conditions - but the alternative dive sites are good. The dive leaders are good company on the way to and from the dive sites and good dive leaders underwater - no rushing and plenty of opportunity to explore swim throughs and sea life. An alternative is DivePoint near the Roman hotel in Paphos.
Paphos Museums & Attractions
Paphos in its entirety is like one big museum, with rich bits of history around every corner. However, the specific known history of Paphos is commemorated in numerous museums which travellers often find to be both interesting and educational. Some of those places which should be explored by Paphos visitors include:
Byzantine Museum – This museum highlights the history of the area from the twelfth through the eighteenth century, exploring the influence of Byzantine rule on Paphos culture.
Churches and Basilicas – These make up a huge portion of the history of Paphos. Some of the ones which should not be missed include the Theoskepasti Church which is an example of a twentieth century religious building in Paphos, the Panayia Chrysopolitissa Church which highlights the Byzantine religious period and the Limeniotissa Basilica which dates al the way back to the fifth century.
Golf Clubs
Secret Valley Golf Club - Only 30 minutes drive from the Villa

Arcadia Villa Paphos - Guest Comments
Hi Martyn, Just thought I would drop you a line to say what a wonderful holiday we had.
My partner and I loved your house and the amenities it provided where first class. We found Tala an ideal place to stay, it was quite yet the restaurants and bars were very good. We had hired a car so getting about was easy as well.
It turned out that our friends who had moved to Cyprus in October lived only a few kilometres away so we were able to surprise them and turned up unannounced at his birthday party.
I have no doubt we will return and our first call will be to you.
Mike Taylor April 2009
